SUMMARY:May 8th\, 2023 Guild Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Agenda\nTo be announced later.\n \nProgram: writing compelling artist statements\nSusan Schenk will present a workshop on writing compelling artist statements\nAn artist’s statement tells others about you and your work. Writing one is a powerful exercise for articulating your passion and art. But\, it also a challenge to capture in words what is often so hard to express and intangible. No matter your medium or level of proficiency\, a good statement is a useful tool.\nIn this workshop\, you will be guided through a series of questions to gather information to create a sophisticated artist’s statement\, and to deepen your thinking about your own art making. If you are happy with your current artist’s statement\, then write a statement for the fabulous artist you aspire to be\, so that you can set that intention into the universe. Or\, answer the questions as preparation for when you are interviewed for a national artist’s publication.\n

SUMMARY:April 10th\, 2023 Guild Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Agenda\nOpening Remarks: Welcomed to all members and visitors.\nSecretary Report: Cathy Rowe\nPresentation of March minutes\nTreasurer’s report: Nancy Graham\nMembership report: Sue Thomas\nCo-Vice President report: Jeanne Kelley-Brown and Melissa Gannon\nEvents: Lynda Orzen\nSpring Fling and Oregon City Festival of the Arts\nVolunteer Coordinator: Kerry Edwards\nOld Business:\nVote on Membership Increase.\nAs per TRAG Bylaws\, this information needs to be placed for 2 consecutive months in the newsletter. In the Fall of 2022\, the membership dues for individuals were raised but other membership dues remained the same – an oversight! Dues will be $50 for families or two people living at the same address and $20 for students. This is a $10 raise in both categories.\nNew Business\nDiscussed at the March meeting was having a new membership for businesses. The purpose would be to have businesses in a supporter category. Still discussing what the rate for the new category would be and how we would present them for events.\n \nProgram: selling your art\nMelissa Gannon will present ideas about selling your art. Topics will include: tuning into artists who are doing what you want to do via websites\, podcasts and classes\, applying to galleries and shows\, looking for grants\, print on demand sites\, taking stock of your unique skill set and thinking of ways that you can offer a product or service.\n

DESCRIPTION:Meeting Agenda\nWelcome to members and guests\nTreasurer Report: Nancy Graham\nPresentation of minutes: Cathy Rowe\nVice Presidents reports: Melissa Gannon and Jeanne Kelly-Brown\nMembership report: Sue Thomas\nHoliday Show Report: Lynda Orzen\nProgram: \nBrainstorming session to give input on programs and events for 2023.\nThis is the time to share ideas on what you would like to see during our meetings and any new projects to undertake this year. When sharing ideas for projects\, consider how you might be able to volunteer in some way to make that project happen.\nSome ideas shared in the past include creating an artist bio\, how to set up a great display for events\, learning new techniques\, First Friday on Main Street\, road trips to a winery or to the woods for a meeting and to create art. At our last meeting there was some discussion about an Open Studios Tour-again\, we’d need manpower to pull this off!\nThe community room at the library is now open so we could put on classes at the library in the future. Put your thinking caps on and let’s see what kind of fun projects we can create in 2023.\nThe board will be meeting in the next week to discuss your input and the coming year.\nGood of the Order\nMembers have anything to share with the group; upcoming events\, awards\, shows\, or a new grandbaby. \nLynda Orze\nTRAG Co-President

SUMMARY:November 14th\, 2022 Guild Meeting
DESCRIPTION:There are life coaches\, financial advisors\, fitness trainers and therapists all eager to guide you to a better life. They’re eager to multiply your assets\, diminish your vulnerabilities and coach you toward your goals. When it comes to our lives as artists\, however\, the professional coach pool is a little cloudy. If you search “art coach” you will find dozens of options. Their services range from “clearing your negative energy” to “how to make millions as an art entrepreneur.”\nMaybe we need to do a little self-assessment before we even think about handing over money to have someone just listen to us. At the TRAG meeting\, we’ll figure out if we need a coach\, you’ll meet a coach and be a coach as we get clear on where we each are and where we want to go.\nSusan Schenk\nTRAG member

SUMMARY:[CANCELED] January 10th\, 2022 In-person Guild Meeting: Brainstorming Ideas for the Future of TRAG
DESCRIPTION:Updated January 8th\, 2022: based on the results of the membership survey\, the January 10th general meeting has been canceled. Stay safe and healthy\, everyone! \nWe will be returning to in-person meetings starting in January!! Our first meeting\, on Monday January 10th\, will be at the Pioneer Center basement meeting room from 7-8:30 pm. We will have a very short business meeting and then spend a bit of time brainstorming ideas for the future of TRAG. \nI would appreciate it if people could think about the following things and bring your ideas with you on January 10th: \n1. Would you be interested in changing the TRAG member meeting time to a Saturday from 10am-12:30pm or 1;00pm? This would allow for longer presentations/art workshops; allow members who are not able to drive at night to attend; more social time to connect with fellow artists. The schedule would be:10-10:15–Socialize10:15-10:45 (MAX!)–Business meeting10:45-12:30–Program (workshop and/or presentation)12:30-1:00–Sharing of art brought in by members (critique if desired) \n2. Presentations/workshops you would like to see offered. \n3. How important is it to you to have a Gallery associated with TRAG? Would you be willing to participate on a committee to work on finding a new Gallery space? \n4. Would you be interested in having a fundraising Gala/silent auction this year? \n5. Should we plan on having OCFOTA again this year or move that to every other year? Would you be interested in participating on the planning committee for OCFOTA if we move ahead with it this year? \nThose are the things I can think of off the top of my head. We can have some discussion about these items\, but the goal of the January meeting is to RECONNECT with each other!! There will be large post-it presentation pads around the room that you can write your suggestions on as you are socializing with others. The board will take the ideas you write down and make plans for this coming year. \nI’m excited to be the President starting in January and am looking forward to a year of reconnection with members. \nNOTE:We will be following the CDC Guidelines and the current mandates put in place by our governor in order to keep everyone safe. Masks will be required and must be worn over your mouth and nose at ALL times while in the meeting. We ask that if you have any ill symptoms\, that you not attend the meeting. \nI hope you have a great holiday season\, and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting in January. \nTamara ScottTRAG President-elect

No matter your medium or level of proficiency\, a good statementis a useful tool. \nIn this workshop\, you will be guided through a series of questions to gather information to createa sophisticated artist’s statement\, and to deepen your thinking about your own art making. If youare happy with your current artist’s statement\, then write a statement for the fabulous artist youaspire to be\, so that you can set that intention into the universe.
