I am a human Magpie. No, I don’t rob nests, I like shiny things! Color inspires me. Mixed media- the combination of multiple mediums or mixing styles “speaks” inspiration to me. Taking a technique associated with one type of art form and using it in new or unexpected ways keeps me pushing my creative envelope. I love to combine techniques and materials to produce something new. So, in a way, I AM robbing the nest of one style to combine it with another.
I paint with mainly acrylics, but may add in foils, micas, glitter, texture, alcohol inks, markers, whatever catches my magpie eye! I love to up cycle glass vases using inks, stains, paints, additives and epoxy. I use micas, pigments, glitter, paper, foils, clay, fabric, vinyl and epoxy to make unique one-of-a-kind tumblers, mugs, flasks and wine tumblers. I enjoy using unique substrates as a canvas to work upon. I also enjoy crafting which is another wonderful way to create and express myself!
Being a creative gives me an opportunity to express myself, try new things and share beauty to those who wish to see.
I am a member of the Three Rivers Artist Guild and have shown my work in TRAGs previous galleries and at Art-o-Maddic Gallery in Canby, Oregon.
