Kett McKenna

To paraphrase Ray Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451, “Everyone must create something so their soul has somewhere to go when they die.” Though I learned that quote well into adulthood, and long after I ever drew my first picture, it helped me find a new purpose for a struggling desire to keep creating. I’ve drawn a lot of pictures my entire life, and will continue to do so, but I have a newly ignited passion in blacksmithing and woodworking. I’ve grown to enjoy crafting something that actually exists in the real world. Something you can actually pick up with your hands and use. Something that will keep existing, and still have use, long after I am gone.

My name is Kett McKenna Jr. and I am a life long artist from Long Island, NY. I’ve been an illustrator my entire life, have a bachelor’s degree in 3d Animation, and hiked the PCT in 2015. I am currently pursuing blacksmithing and woodworking as a new medium.

I’ve shown my work at the Gladstone Holiday Market, and the Holiday Bazaar at Past Lives Maker’s Space. I also self published a coffee table book called “The Gumby’s Guidebook.” It contained 200+ comedic illustrations depicting climbing scenarios climbers will often experience as they progress.
