Georgine Longfellow
A native Oregonian, my love of clay started very young and has continued into my 70’s. In college I spent most of my time in the pottery studio, my husband and I eventually built a gas kiln in our backyard and learned so much about firing and glazes. I like to look at the world with clay in mind…seeing colors and textures in nature as they could relate to clay. I love the chemistry of making and firing glazes in my electric kilns, now at cone 6. I am always looking for that elusive, interesting, yet functional glaze. I make wheel-thrown and hand built pottery, and bowls are still my favorite form. I create pots that will function in the kitchen, vessels that are durable and dishwasher safe. I also love making work for the garden such as flower pots, hanging art, and bird baths. I have sold through outdoor markets and small galleries.
